On November 4, Yamaichi Metal Co., Ltd. signed a basic agreement with UACJ Corporation (President and CEO: Miyuki Ishihara, hereinafter referred to as “UACJ”) to collaborate on the processing of UBCs (Used Beverage Cans). Both companies will continue to explore this cooperative venture.
UACJ is a comprehensive aluminum manufacturer based in Japan with a global business presence. Within its group, UACJ operates six businesses: flat rolled products, automotive parts, extrusions, foil, casting and forging, and metal processing. UACJ supplies aluminum materials to a wide range of industries, including beverage cans, automotive, IT equipment, air conditioning, and aerospace. For the fiscal year ending March 2021, UACJ recorded sales of approximately 570 billion yen and employed around 9,700 people worldwide.
The company upholds the corporate philosophy of “Contributing to a sustainable and prosperous society with technology that maximizes the potential of materials.” Its long-term management vision, “UACJ VISION 2030,” includes a goal to reduce CO2 emissions by 22% by 2030.
On the other hand, Yamaichi Metal has been committed to environmental improvement activities, with a focus on the aluminum can recycling business known as CAN to CAN, under our corporate philosophy of “Coexistence and co-prosperity with the environment, resources, and society.” The alignment between our company’s direction and UACJ’s corporate philosophy and business direction led to the conclusion of this basic agreement. Through this initiative, we will continue to vigorously pursue the challenge of achieving a “sustainable society.”
