Yamaichi Metal Co., Ltd. has been awarded the Governor’s Commendation in the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Measures Category (SMEs Division) as part of a recognition program established by Shizuoka Prefecture to honor individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to preventing global warming.
This commendation is granted under the Shizuoka Prefectural Global Warming Prevention Ordinance to recognize outstanding environmental efforts. Yamaichi Metal was recognized for its unique aluminum can recycling technology and for advancing the transition to non-fossil fuel electricity through an off-site PPA (Power Purchase Agreement), reflecting the company’s strong commitment to building a sustainable society.

Background and Initiatives Behind the Award
At Yamaichi Metal, we possess proprietary technology that significantly reduces both electricity consumption and CO₂ emissions in the recycling process. As part of our commitment to achieving zero CO₂ emissions by fiscal year 2026, we became the first company in the aluminum industry to adopt non-fossil value electricity through an off-site PPA.
This initiative not only contributes to lowering our environmental impact but also promotes the broader use of renewable energy sources.
Furthermore, Yamaichi Metal achieved the KPI (CO₂ reduction target) set under the “Donation-Type Positive Impact Finance” agreement with Shizuoka Bank. As a result of meeting this target, the company carried out regional contribution activities such as the “High School Student Dream Realization Project.”
