In the fiscal year 2023, Yamaichi Metal made a donation to Shimizu Town in Sunto District, which was used to purchase new books for the library and taiko drums for the local traditional performing art, “Kakita River Spring Water Taiko.”

Approximately 100 New Books for Children and Adults Donated to Shimizu Town Library

The donation allowed the purchase of around 100 new books for both children and adults, and five taiko drums were acquired by Shimizu Town.

Kakita River Spring Water Taiko, a Local Traditional Performing Art of Shimizu Town

Kakita River Spring Water Taiko is a group dedicated to preserving and passing down the traditional performing art of taiko drumming in Shimizu Town. Since its establishment in 1986, it has included drummers of all ages and performed primarily at local festivals and events.

The taiko drums purchased through Yamaichi Metal’s donation were handcrafted by artisans from Asano Taiko, a 400-year-old company based in Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture. These drums, made by hollowing out a single piece of zelkova wood, are extremely valuable and took three months to complete.
