Yamaichi Metal Hosts “Dream Realization Partnership Open Presentation Event” Illuminating the Future and Dreams of the Community

Yamaichi Metal’s “Dream Realization Partnership” project aims to fully support the creativity and passion of the younger generation, enriching individuality and contributing to a prosperous future for the region and Japan.

As part of this project, the “Dream Realization Partnership Open Presentation Event” was held on March 27, 2024, at the Nagasawa Town Cultural Center Belfore. Twelve teams from four high schools—Izuh Combined High School, Numazu Chuo High School, Chitoku High School, and Nihon University Mishima High School—participated, filling the venue with enthusiasm and energy.

At 1:00 PM, the event commenced with passionate students presenting their self-conceived projects. Diverse ideas were showcased through fervent presentations, including “Creating a Local Hero in Mishima,” “Composing a Station Melody for Mishima,” “Inviting the Speaker from the Movie ‘Flying Colors’,” and “Hosting an Orchestra.”

Team Explaining Crawfish Damage

A standout project was presented by second-year students from Nihon University Mishima High School: Takanobu Hatagishi, Yuba Takai, and Takuma Narita. They proposed an innovative idea to tackle the issue of crawfish damaging rice roots and threatening native species. Their project involved collecting crawfish nationwide to be used in salmon farming.

This idea capitalized on the component in crawfish shells that contributes to the red color of salmon, potentially aiding environmental circulation and biodiversity conservation. The team received 1 million yen in funding and a trophy for their outstanding project.

The event garnered attention from television and newspapers, with an article published in the next day’s Shizuoka Shimbun. The event was also featured on TBS NEWS DIG and Tele Shizuoka.
