The competition is run through partnerships between municipalities, educational institutions, local media, companies, and organizations in the public and private sectors.
The aim is to create opportunities that encourage actions towards solving social issues based on SDGs while fostering young people to become “champions of a sustainable society.”
Yamaichi Metal participates as a sponsor to support this initiative aimed at achieving a sustainable society.
Yamaichi Metal Award Given to Numazu Chuo High School’s Research Group D for Their Efforts on Waste Management
The Yamaichi Metal Award was presented to Research Group D from Numazu Chuo High School for their presentation on “The Current State of Waste Problems in Japan and Singapore’s Countermeasures.” Their presentation provided detailed and innovative insights into Japan’s waste issues and the effective strategies implemented in Singapore for comparison.
Their proposals for promoting recycling, reducing waste, and implementing sustainable waste management strategies were particularly enlightening for us.

At Yamaichi Metal, we believe in raising awareness about the importance of environmental protection and recycling. To honor the efforts of the younger generation aiming for a sustainable society, we presented the award along with a specially designed trophy. This trophy, crafted with the collaboration of artisans involved in making the Tokyo Olympic torch, was designed and supervised by Hiroko Takahashi, a professor at Musashino Art University and an artist.
