RECYCLE
Recycling aluminum cans is versatile. Anyone can recycle as long as they can crush or melt the cans.
That’s why we have pursued a value-added recycling process that “only Yamaichi can do.”
“Addressing fundamental environmental issues as our own responsibility, and seriously considering ‘manufacturing’ that truly benefits society.”
With this strong belief, we have succeeded in mass production and commercialization over many years.
※In the fiscal year 2023, the amount of aluminum can recycling: 42,684 tons.

The body and lid of an aluminum can are made from different materials. If these mixed materials remain together, the recycled aluminum would not meet original standards and cannot be returned to aluminum cans. Yamaichi Metal has achieved what no one else has for years by establishing the technology to separate these different materials in aluminum cans, enabling "Can to Can" recycling.

Metal scraps mixed in during the collection process of aluminum cans, and aluminum ash generated during the recycling process, typically become industrial waste in ordinary recycling. Yamaichi Metal carefully separates and recovers valuable materials without using flux, preventing them from becoming industrial waste.

In the process of producing virgin materials (new ingots) for aluminum cans, a large amount of electricity is consumed to extract aluminum from ore. On the other hand, Yamaichi Metal's recycling technology for producing scrap materials (recycled aluminum) eliminates the high-temperature electric furnace melting process, reducing electricity consumption by 99.9% compared to new ingots.

By eliminating the energy-intensive melting process, we significantly reduce the CO2 emissions associated with electricity generation. Additionally, we are exploring the use of 100% renewable energy (non-fossil sources) for all electricity used in our processes. Moving forward, we aim for zero Scope 1 (direct emissions from our operations) emissions, achieving carbon neutrality in our production processes.

Empty cans collected from across the country are transported to the crushing process.

The cans are finely shredded into an appropriate size, and iron, non-ferrous metals, and other impurities are removed.

The shredded aluminum cans are roasted to completely remove surface coatings, residual drinks, and other organic materials.

Granular aluminum pellets, with surface organic materials removed, are retrieved.

The aluminum pellets are compressed and formed into tablets.

The aluminum pellets are melted and poured into molds; once cooled, they form recycled ingots.
Our company procures aluminum can presses that meet the following purchase specifications 1 through 5.
